Flonase

Active Ingredients:

  • fluticasone

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:
Corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory effect. The mechanism of action against allergic rhinitis in not known.

Medical indications:

  • seasonal and perennial allergic and nonallergic rhinitis

Flonase contradictions, precautions and warnings: The drug should not be used in:

  • patients after long term treatment with systemic corticosteroids
  • pediatric patients
  • hypersensitivity
  • active or inactive tuberculous infections of the respiratory tract
  • infectious diseases
  • nasal surgery or trauma
  • pregnancy
  • with caution: breastfeeding

Flonase side effects: As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Fluticasone. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Fluticasone may cause the following side effects:

  • headache, nausea, vomiting
  • pharyngitis, nasal irritation, asthma symptoms, cough, nasal bleed
  • hypersensitivity

If any side effects occur during the treatment make sure to consult your health care provider immediately. If you are unsure about anything related to Fluticasone, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Drug interaction: Flonase can potentially interact with the following groups of drugs:

  • cytochrome P450 3A4 inhibitors (e.g. anti-HIV drugs)
  • anti-fungal drugs
