Suprax is a 3rd generation semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic. Cefixime acts bactericidally. Action mechanism of the medication is associated with inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cells membrane. Cefixime is resistant to the action of B-lactamase, which are produced by the most gram positive and gram negative bacteria.

The medication should be used with caution in elderly patients, patients with kidney failure, pseudomembranous colitis, children under 6 years of age.
