Active Ingredients:

  • Terbinafine

The commercial name of the medication may differ from the brand one. Generic Lamisil manufactured by Cipla is available under commercial name Terbicip.

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication: Lamisil is an antifungal preparation which exhibits fungicidal effects. The drug affects cytoplasmic membranes of the fungal cells by specifically inhibiting ergosterine synthesis. The drug is active against a large number of fungal strains but especially against yeast infections.

Medical indications: the drug is prescribed in treatment of:

  • Fungal skin, hair and nail disease
  • Skin and mucous membranes candidosis

Lamisil contraindications, precautions and warnings:

  • Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation
  • Liver or renal insufficiency
  • Tumors
  • Metabolism disorders
  • Pathologies of the vessels of the extremities
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation period
  • Young age prior to 2 years

Terbinafine side effects: As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Lamisil. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated . Terbinafine may cause the following side effects:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Change of taste
  • Decreased appetite
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Cholestasis
  • Neutropenia
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Skin allergic reactions
  • Burning sensation
  • Hyperemia
  • Decreased appetite
