Plavix

Active Ingredients:

  • Clopidogrel Bisulfate

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:
Anti-platelet agent; specific and active inhibitor of platelet aggregation. Acts to dilate the coronary arteries. In atherosclerotic vascular disorder, prevents the development of atherothrombosis regardless of the vascular process localization.

Medical indications:
Prevention of ischemic disorders (myocardial infarction, stroke, peripheral artery thrombosis, sudden cardiovascular death) in patients with atherosclerosis

Plavix contradictions, precautions and warnings:

  • hypersensitivity
  • severe hepatic insufficiency
  • hemorrhagic syndrome, acute bleeding (including intracranial hemorrhage)
  • acute gastric and / or duodenal ulcer, nonspecific ulcerative colitis
  • tuberculosis, lung tumor
  • pregnancy, lactation, neonatal period
  • with caution: moderate hepatic and / or renal insufficiency, trauma, preoperative condition

Plavix side effects: As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Clopidogrel. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Plavix may cause the following side effects:

  • gastrointestinal bleeding, hemorrhagic stroke
  • thrombocytopenia
  • abdominal pain, dyspepsia, gastritis, constipation
  • ulceration of the mucous membrane of the digestive tract, diarrhea
  • allergic reactions (skin rash)

If any side effects occur during the treatment make sure to consult your health care provider immediately. If you are unsure about anything related to Clopidogrel, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Drug interaction:
Plavix can potentially interact with the following groups of drugs:

  • anticoagulants
  • NSAIDs
  • anti-epileptic drugs
  • anti-arrhythmic drugs
  • anti-diabetes agents
