Generic Alli contains the active ingredient Orlistat which belongs to a group of medications called lipase inhibitors. Orlistat works directly in the bowel on the enzymes called lipases. These enzymes are responsible for the breaking down lipids in the intestine into small molecules which then are absorbed into the blood circulation. By inhibiting this enzyme, Orlistat helps to prevent the absorption of lipids into the blood circulation. In results the organism receive less calories with food and this is beneficial for weight loss.
