Beclometasone is an corticosteroid for inhalational application. Beclometasone diopropionate is a prodrug that possesses mild affinity to glucocorticoids-receptors. Under the action of esterases the medication is converted into its active metabolite beclometasoe-17-monopropionate which exerts an expressed local anti-inflammatory effect. The medication decreases inflammation due to decreased production of chemiotaxis, retards the development of immediate-onset allergic reaction and improves mucociliar transport.
