How does the medication work?
Salmeterol is a bronchodilating remedy, selective beta2 adrenomimetic with prolong effect. It works by relaxing smooth muscles of the bronchi and decreases their reactivity, inhibits the release of histamine, leukotriens and prostoglandin D2 by the mast cells. Bronchodilating action is achieved in 5-10 minutes after application and lasts nearly 12 hours.

Allergic reactions: hives, angioedema, bronchospasmOther: tremor, arthralgia, nervousness, low potassium blood levels
Salmeterol may cause paradoxal bronchospasm which must be relieved by an immediate application of inhaled bronchodilators.
If any of these side effects occur during the treatment seek medical attention immediately.
