Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:
Zetia is an anti cholesterol medication for internal use. Zetia works by selectively inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol and some herbal sterol in the intistine. After administration Ezetimibe is localized in the brush border of the small intestine and prevents the absorption of cholesterol. Decreased intake of cholesterol makes liver to collect and eliminate cholesterol from the blood. Zetia does not increase the excretion of bile acids and does not inhibits cholesterol production in the liver.

Zetia side effects: As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Zetia. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated.
