Jeanine

Jeanine

Active Ingredients:

  • Ethinylestradiol + Dienogest

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

Jeanine is a low-dose monophasic progestin-estrogen oral contraceptive. The contraceptive effect of Jeanine is due to a number of complementary mechanisms:

  • it inhibits the secretion of pituitary gonadotropin-releasing hormone, inhibits the maturation of follicles and ovulation
  • increases viscosity of cervical mucus, which hinders the penetration of sperm into the uterus
  • causes endometrial changes that inhibit the implantation of a fertilized egg

Jeanine also helps normalize menstrual cycle by making it more regular, less painful and intense which decreases the risk of iron deficiency anemia.

Dienogest, one of the components of Jeanine, is an active progestogen, nortestosterone derivative with anti-androgenic activity, which is highly similar to the natural female hormone progesterone. Due to dienogest, Janine has a cosmetic effect on skin and hair in women with acne, seborrhea, hirsutism and androgenic alopecia. The study proved the effectiveness of Janine in female patients with acne.

Janine also has a positive effect on the lipid composition of blood, increasing the concentration of HDL.
