Active Ingredients:

  • Ethinylestradiol+Gestodene

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

Logest is a monophasic combined estrogen-progestogen contraceptive drug. It inhibits the secretion of pituitary gonadotropin-releasing hormone, inhibits maturation of follicles and ovulation. Logest increases viscosity of cervical mucus, which hinders the penetration of sperm into the uterus.

On the background of the drug, the menstrual cycle becomes more regular, less painful, the intensity of bleeding decreases, resulting in reduced risk of iron deficiency anemia.

Medical indications:

  • oral contraception
  • functional disorders of the menstrual cycle

Logest contraindications, precautions and warnings:

  • thrombosis (venous and arterial)
  • states prior to thrombosis (eg transient ischemic attack, angina)
  • diabetes mellitus with vascular complications
  • severe or multiple risk factors for venous or arterial thrombosis
  • jaundice or severe liver diseases
  • liver tumors (benign or malignant)
  • migraine with focal neurological symptoms
  • pancreatitis with severe hypertriglyceridemia
  • hormone-dependent malignant diseases of genital organs and mammary glands
  • vaginal bleeding of unknown origin
  • pregnancy, breastfeeding
  • hypersensitivity to the drug's components

Logest side effects:

As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Logest. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Logest cause the following side effects:

  • digestive system: sometimes - nausea, vomiting
  • reproductive system: sometimes - intermenstrual bleeding, changes in vaginal secretion
  • endocrine system: sometimes - tension and enlargement of breast , weight change, changes in libido
  • CNS: sometimes - depressed mood, headaches, migraines
  • Others: poor tolerance of contact lenses, fluid retention, allergic reactions

Drug interaction:

Logest can potentially interact with the following groups of drugs:

  • pyrazolone derivatives, sulfonamides

  • indirect anticoagulants
