Active Ingredients:

  • Venlafaxine

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:
Effexor is an antidepressant which belongs to a group of medicines called Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Antidepressive effect of venlafaxine in humans is associated with increased neuromediators activity in the CNS.

Medical indications:

  • Depression
  • Generalized anxiety disorder
  • Social phobia

Effexor contraindications, precautions and warnings:

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • With caution: recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina, blood pressure violations, increased intraocular pressure, angle-closure glaucoma, a history of manic conditions, reduced body weight, kidney / liver failure, adolescences.

Effexor side effects:
As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Venlafaxine. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Venlafaxine may cause the following side effects:

  • Systemic: asthenia, chill, chest pain
  • Cardiovascular system: hypertension, rapid heart
  • Skin: sweat, itch
  • Digestive system: nausea, constipation, anorexia, vomiting, weight loss, dry mouth
  • Nervous system: somnolence, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, tremor, agitation, decreased libido, depersonalization, depression, yawning
  • Sense organs: blurred vision, taste perversion, tinnitus, midriasis
  • Urogenital system: ejaculation and orgasm disorders, impotence, urination disorders
