Zelnorm

Active Ingredients:

  • Tegaserod Maleate

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

Stimulates 5-HT4-serotonin receptors in the terminals of afferent neurons in the digestive tract, causing the release of several neurotransmitters. Promotes the peristaltic reflex and basal motor activity of the intestine, thereby normalizing the impaired propulsive activity throughout the gastrointestinal tract. Decreases the number of pulses generated by afferent neurons in response to stretching of the rectum, which may indicate the ability of the drug to reduce the severity of visceral hyperalgesia. Stimulates loosening of the intestine, increases the number of bowel evacuations, reduces the severity of complex symptoms (discomfort / abdominal pain, constipation) relevant to irritable bowel syndrome.
