Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

Irbesartan belongs to a group of drugs called antihypertensive agents, angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Reduces peripheral resistance and afterload. Lowers blood pressure (with minimal changes in heart rate) and the pressure in the lesser blood circle; decrease in blood pressure is dose-dependent.

Medical indications: The drug is indicated in:

  • Arterial hypertension

Irbesartan contradictions, precautions and warnings:

  • hypersensitivity
  • pregnancy, breastfeeding
  • with caution: renal dysfunction, severe diarrhea or vomiting

Irbesartan side effects:

As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Irbesartan. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Irbesartan may cause the following side effects:

  • CNS: headache, dizziness
  • digestive system: nausea, vomiting
  • other: weakness
