Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

Actovegin posses evident antihypoxic properties, stimulates the activity of enzymes of oxidative phosphorylation, increases the exchange of energy-rich phosphates, accelerates the decay of lactate and beta-hydroxybutyrate, normalizes pH, enhances blood circulation and intensification of energy-intensive processes of regeneration and reparation, improves tissues trophism.

Medical indications:

cerebral circulation disorders
ischemic stroke
traumatic brain injury
angiopathy
ulceration of skin of different genesis (including trophic ulcers with chronic venous insufficiency)
pressure sores
cornea and sclera lesions
burns (including burns of the cornea)
corneal ulcer of different genesis
keratitis
radiation lesions of the skin
corneal epithelium defect in patients with contact lenses (prevention and treatment)

Actovegin contraindications, precautions and warnings:

hyperglycemia
pregnancy, lactation

Actovegin side effects:

As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Actovegin. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Actovegin may cause the following side effects:

- allergic reactions (including rash, hot facial flushes, hyperthermia)

Drug interaction:

Actovegin is not known to interact with other drugs. However, we recommend you to talk with your health care provide about drug interactions with Actovegin which may apply to you.

The preparation should be taken according to your doctor's recommendations. Never take the drug for conditions which are not presented in the the drug's leaflet. Try to keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
