Pain Killers Maxalt

Medical indications: The preparation is prescribed for treatment of:

- migraines, including those with an aura

Maxalt contradictions, precautions and warnings: The drug should not be used in:

• hypersensitivity
• hypertension
• coronary insufficiency
• myocardial infarction, documented asymptomatic myocardial ischemia, Prinzmetal's angina
• basilar and hemiplegic migraine
• patients 18 years old and younger
• with caution: pregnancy, lactation

Maxalt side effects: As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Rizatriptan. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Maxalt may cause the following side effects:

• dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, fatigue, decreased mental alertness, insomnia, hyperesthesia, tremor, ataxia, anxiety, disorientation
• chest pain, abdominal pain, heartbeat, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, diarrhea, dyspepsia, thirst
• pain in the neck, stiffness, constrained movements, myasthenia, headache, paresthesia
• discomfort in the throat, dyspnea, hyperemia and itch of the skin, excessive sweating, blurred vision, hot facial flushes
• faintness, increased blood pressure

If any side effects occur during the treatment make sure to consult your health care provider immediately. If you are unsure about anything related to Rizatriptan, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Drug interaction:

Maxalt can potentially interact with the following groups of drugs:

• MAO Inhibitors
• Beta blockers

It is possible that all drug interactions are not presented above. For this reason, we recommend you to talk with your health care provide about drug interactions with Rizatriptan which may apply to you.

Additional information for the patients: The preparation should be taken according to your doctor's recommendations. Never take the drug for conditions which are not presented in the the drug's leaflet. Try to keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
