Voltaren
Active Ingredients:
Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication: Anti-inflammatory drug, a derivative of phenylacetic acid. Expresses anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effect. Non-selectively inhibits COX-1 and COX-2, breaks the metabolism of arachidonic acid, reduces the amount of Pg in inflammation focus. Most effective against pain of inflammatory nature. Like all NSAIDs, the drug demonstrates anti-platelet activity.
Medical indications: The drug is prescribed in:
- Inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid, psoriatic, juvenile chronic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, neurovegetative muscular atrophy, osteoarthritis, rheumatism, gouty arthritis, arthritis in Reiter's disease
- Pain syndrome: headache (including migraine), tooth ache, bursitis, tendonitis, lumbago, sciatica, neuralgia, myalgia, arthralgia, lumbago, in oncology, post-traumatic and post-surgical pain accompanied by inflammation
- Algomenorrhea; inflammatory processes in the pelvis, including adnexitis; birth (as analgesic and tocolytic agents)
- Infectious-inflammatory diseases of ENT organs with severe pain syndrome (in the complex therapy): pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media. Feverish syndrome with in cold-related and infectious diseases.
Voltaren contradictions, precautions and warnings: The drug must not be used in:
- Hypersensitivity (including to other NSAIDs)
- Aspirin asthma, Aspirin triad
- Hemopoiesis disorders (including hemophilia, bleeding time prolongation and a tendency to bleeding)
- Acute erosive and ulcerative diseases in the gastrointestinal tract, gastrointestinal bleeding
- Pregnancy, lactation
- Pediatric patients
- With caution: anemia, bronchial asthma, decompensated heart failure, hypertension, edema syndrome, liver and / or renal insufficiency, alcoholism, diverticulitis, non-acute erosive and ulcerative diseases of the digestive tract, diabetes, elderly patients, post-surgical period, induced acute hepatic porphyria.
Voltaren side effects:
As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Diclofenac. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Voltaren may cause the following side effects:
- digestive system: abdominal pain or cramps, bloating, diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, constipation, flatulence, increased activity of hepatic transaminases, peptic ulcer, including with complications (perforation, bleeding), gastrointestinal bleeding without ulcer
- nervous system: headache, dizziness
- senses: tinnitus
- skin: skin rash, itching
- urogenital system: fluid retention

- ethanol
- anti-gout drugs
- ACTH
- tubular secretion blockers
