Active Ingredients:

  • Clobetasol

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

Dermovate is a glucocorticoid medication for external use only. It possesses inflammatory and antiallergic properties and eliminates edema, flushing and itching at the site of application.

Medical indications:

  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema (refractory forms)
  • Lichen ruber planus
  • Discoid lupus erythematosus
  • Other skin diseases resistant to therapy with less active glucocorticoids

Dermovate contraindications, precautions and warnings:

Dermovate should not be used in the following conditions:

  • acne simplex and acne rosacea
  • perioral dermatitis
  • perianal and genital itching
  • primary viral infections of the skin (herpes simplex, varicella)
  • primary bacterial infection of the skin
  • primary cutaneous lesion of fungal etiology
  • dermatitis in children aged under 1 year
  • hypersensitivity to Clobetasol

It is not recommended to use Dermovate by pregnant or nursing women as there are no clinical trial proving its safety in this category of patients.

Dermovate side effects:

As with any other drug, side effects can occur with Clobetasol. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated . Dermovate may cause the following side effects:

Local reactions: in prolonged and intensive treatment - atrophic changes in the skin, e.g. stretch marks, skin thinning, dilation of surface blood vessels, pigmentation disorders, hypertrichosis.

Systemic reactions: long-term use in high doses may cause Cushing's symptoms, especially in children.

If any side effects occur during the treatment make sure to consult your health care provider immediately. If you are unsure about anything related to Clobetasol, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Drug interaction:

Dermovate can potentially interact with the following groups of drugs:

  • other skin diseases products for local use
  • other corticoids

It is possible that all drug interactions are not presented above. For this reason, we recommend you to talk with your health care provide about drug interactions with Clobetasol which may apply to you.

The preparation should be taken according to your doctor's recommendations. Never take the drug for conditions which are not presented in the the drug's leaflet. Try to keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
