Active Ingredients:

The commercial name of the medication may differ from the brand one. Generic Latisse manufactured by Ajanta is available under commercial name Bimat. Generic Latisse comes with one applicator brush.

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

Latisse is the first prescription medication approved for insufficient eyelashes. It makes the eyelashes growing stronger, thicker, and darker. Bimatoprost enhances and prolongs the hair growth phase which increases the quantity of the eyelashes. The therapeutic effect occurs within 8 to 16 weeks of the treatment.

Medical indications:

The drug is used for:

  • eyelash hypotrichosis (inadequate or insufficient eyelashes)

Latisse contradictions, precautions and warnings:

The medication should be avoided in patients with:

  • allergy or hypersensitivity to any component of the drug
  • a history of abnormal IOP (intraocular pressure)

Latisse side effects:

As with any other drug, side effects can occur with bimatoprost ophthalmic solution. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Latisse may cause the following side effects:

  • itching in the eyes
  • eyes redness
  • eye dryness
  • eyelids redness or darkening
  • increased intraocular pressure
