Retin-A

Active Ingredients:

  • Tretionon

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

Retin-A belongs to the group of retinoids, structurally related to vitamin A, is a natural metabolite of retinol.

When topically applied, penetrates through cell membranes, forms a cytoplasmic complex, which enters the nucleus of cells. The formed hormone-receptor complex by binding to DNA, prevents the transcription and thereby violates the synthesis of protein. This mechanism underlies a hypopigmented action of tretinoin. Stimulates the mitosis of epidermal cells, increases the amount of elastic fibers in the papillary layer of the skin. Inhibits melanogenesis, increases the growth and differentiation of epithelial cells, inhibits the adhesion of cells forming acne. Inopen blackheads helps leveling the surface of the skin with no signs of inflammation, in closed blackheads helps to open them or transform into papules with a subsequent healing (without scarring), prevents the formation of new acne blemishes. Has antiseborrheic, anti-inflammatory, keratolytic, immune stimulating effect. The therapeutic effect develops in 6-7 weeks of treatment of acne, the maximum effect is usually observed in 8-12 weeks of treatment.
