The commercial name of the medication may differ from the brand one. Generic Vaniqa manufactured by Ajanta is available under commercial name Elyn.

Action mechanism and therapeutic effect of the medication:

The medication represents a prescription cream that reduces the facial hair growth in women. Works by inhibiting the enzyme influencing hair growth. The cream does not remove the hair but retards its growth, therefore it is advised to use Vaniqa with a depilatory method. The effect of the cream usually appears after a 2-month use.

Vaniqa side effects:

As with any other drug, side effects can occur with eflornithine hydrochloride. However, it does not mean that everyone who takes the medicine will experience these adverse effects. In most cases the preparation is well tolerated. Vaniqa may cause the following side effects:

skin: stinging, burning, redness, tingling, rash
headache
