Levothyroxine is a preparation of thyroid gland hormones, synthetic levorotary isomer of thyroxine. In low doses Synthroid possesses anabolic action. In average doses stimulates growth and development, increases the demand of tissue in oxygen, stimulates metabolism of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates, stimulation the activity of cardiovascular system. In high doses the medication inhibits the synthesis of thyrotropin releasing hormone.
