Brand Zovirax contains the active ingredient acyclovir which is analogue of purine nucleoside. The medication possesses the ability to inhibit the growth and spread of Herpes Virus type 1 and 2, CMV (cytomegalovirus), Epstein-Barr virus. Action mechanism of the medicament is associated with inhibiting DNA replication. DNA is a genetic material which is responsible for virus replication. The medication does not act on influenza viruses.

Medical indications:

The medication is used in the following conditions:

  • treatment of infections caused by Herpes Simplex
  • Prophylaxis of the infections caused Herpes Simplex
  • Treatment of infections caused by Varicella-Zoster virus or Herpes Zoster
